These days, more and more brides seem to be caught up in the trend of gifting their grooms a set of boudoir portraits as a wedding present. As a female wedding photographer, I’ve previously been approached many times to shoot these kinds of portraits. For those who are unfamiliar with this relatively new trend, ‘Boudoir’ photography is not a new concept and has been around since the 1920s. Think old Hollywood. Think glamour, and elegance. Shooting portraits in the ‘boudoir style’ is to create sensual images of women (and the occasional man or couple) with the subject partly clothed or in lingerie. Nudity is more often implied than explicit and it can be a romantic, personal gift for your other half on or before your wedding, an anniversary, a birthday or even Valentine’s Day.
